Simple Design Goals

At some point our civilization may crumble, artificial intelligence may emerge enough to run things better, or we may just come to our senses and adopt civilization 2.0. Whatever hastens its arrival, having done some thinking ahead of time may allow us to skip a lot of drama and increase the likelihood it arises to our liking. Regarding designs, what Einstein said about theories ought to apply: make it as simple as possible and no simpler; complexity will arise soon enough, on contact with reality.
