Why You Need Grit

We desire good things in different ways. It may be career progression, development of a talent, acquiring a new skill, or improving a relationship.

Transforming any desire to reality, involves a process. Giving up at any point before the dream manifests, aborts the dream development. It’s like processing the negatives of a film in the dark room, and giving up before the process is completed — the picture will not be seen. Grit is needed to see the seed through to harvest.

Taking hold of the dream through the journey to reality, is GRIPPING the idea, thought, proposal as you go through different life seasons. There will be threats that may signal letting go. There may also be justifiable reasons — unanticipated illness, lack or dwindling of needed resources and inadequate support, are some reasons that may make it easier to loosen the grip and let go of the dream. What threats are you facing to your dream?

Holding on as best you can, through thick and thin, will help draw you nearer and nearer realization day. Some other factors may help to strengthen your needed grip, that is sustain required grit.

Ascertain the value of your desire. What does it mean for you? What positive life transformation would it bring? How would you feel? What would it enable you do? Think of how you would feel once the desire is fully realized — Take a deep breath and think of the other areas of your life it would positively impact. As you think of arrival at realization, hold your dream tightly. Yes, literally hold your dream tightly — how do you feel?

Guard your environment. You would not flaunt your valuables where it is likely to be stolen, or it’s safety threatened. Would you flaunt it at all? Guard your dream like you would any treasure you possess.
