The 7 Common Traits of Wealthy Business Owners

What I’ve learned in the last 6 years of consulting

I started consulting within the banking industry years ago and I’ve interacted with wealthy clients from a variety of different backgrounds.

I’ve worked with founders from all industries, including grocery store chains, steel manufacturers, accounting firms, and strip clubs.

I noticed there are a few traits they all have in common.

Different banks have a different metric for what a “premier” or “wealth” client is, but it’s always defined by how much money they have at the bank.

At the first bank I worked this was customers with over $500,000 of assets within the institution. They may have (and probably do have) a lot more money elsewhere, but this is the minimum level to be labeled a higher-tier client.

At the second bank, it was $1,000,000 in assets or more.

The people I’m talking about here are the top 1% of this client base and these are the 7 traits they have in common.

I had an appointment scheduled at 11 am once with the founder of a grocery store chain. This grocery provider has over 100 locations in my state alone, and over 600 store locations across the U.S.A. My 10 o’clock appointment ran 5 minutes over.

Before I could welcome this man inside my office he already left. The 5 minutes was too much of a delay for him.

This is kind of extreme in my opinion. I don’t feel anyone should be this impatient. But it’s common among people that work…
